At the end of this month, we will be headed to Seattle for orientation with Action International Ministries. Action is a super cool, non-denomination organization that sends people out to be missionaries. When we were asked to consider moving to Brazil and leading the "Mission Post", we chose Action to be the organization to apply to be missionaries through. They provide a lot of training and evaluating to be sure we are a good fit for the role that we will fulfill. Let me just tell you, the application was INTENSE. It only took me like 3 months to complete it, mainly because I am phenomenal at procrastinating. But, that application process sure awakened me to "my story". Pretty neat. So, even if you are not anywhere in the missionary business, people should fill out an application that involves self reflection, evaluating your strengths and weaknesses, your education, your life choices, your beliefs and doctrinal beliefs of the gospel. WOW. After completing that, my eyes were definitely opened to the grace all in and through out my life. From childhood to this very moment.. When was the last time you sat and actually realized all of the grace in your life? It is mind blowing. For those of you that have known me (Lindsey) for more than 10 years, then you know how my life was and it is clear that grace poured into me and changed me drastically.
So, after coming back from Seattle and orientation with Action, we have to hit the fundraising journey hard. That part makes Tim and I pretty uncomfortable. We have had a big part in fundraising for the Davis Lar-but asking for funding for my family? That is different and definitely something that will make both of us step out of our comfort. That is where our faith plays a big part and we will press on. To share some details, majority of our funding will go to:
~ travel for fundraising
~funding the preparation and furnishing of our future home
~ travel expenses for another trip to Brazil after our June trip
~ purchasing items to homeschool the kids (TERRIFYING)
~ ministry resources for weekly outreach in the slums of Brazil
~living expenses (groceries, health insurance, gas, utilities,)
~ resources and equipment for sustainability projects that we will lead at the Davis Lar.
Thats just a rundown. After returning from Missionary orientation (yeah I know, sounds totally crazy), we will be official missionaries through Action and Action will be managing our budget. Donations would need to be sent through our account with Action International Ministries. Now, we need people to tell people and those people to tell people. If you have access to materials that can help us in welding, woodworking, drip irrigations, homeschooling, fundraising.. please reach out and let us know. If you would like to know how you can be involved, we can definitely make a way! Each and everyone one of us were created with skills and talents to make us great servants- how are you using them? Do you know what those skills and talents are that you have been given?
Think about that.
"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me". - Emma Bombeck
